Membership Information

Founded in 1961, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is a not-for-profit professional membership organization based in Chicago, IL, dedicated to providing leadership in healthcare for the management of technology, information, and change.

The HIMSS membership profile includes CEO’s, CIO’s, COO’s, CFO’s, senior managers, IS technical staff, management engineers, physicians, nurses, business consultants, attorneys, financial advisors, technology vendors academicians, and students.

HIMSS members apply their expertise in a variety of settings: hospitals, clinical group practices, healthcare system corporations, provider and payer organizations, government, healthcare consulting firms and more.

HIMSS has more than 57 chapters and more than 74,000 individuals, of which more than two-thirds work in healthcare provider, governmental and not-for-profit organizations across the globe, plus over 600 corporations and 450 not-for-profit partner organizations, that share this cause. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, HIMSS serves the global health information and technology communities with focused operations across North America, Europe, United Kingdom, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

HIMSS chapters regularly meet to learn from expert speakers, share knowledge, and network. To keep members posted on industry and HIMSS events chapter publish newsletters and maintain Web sites, such as the one you are visiting. Chapters may also offer educational sessions designed to help you in your workplace. They are one of the best resources you can have for keeping abreast of local issues – right in your own backyard.
