Middle Tennessee is known for the many professionals that are passionate about revolutionizing the healthcare industry or for those that have innovative ideas that can shape the future of care.

To support that spirit of calling to improve healthcare, the Tennessee Chapter of HIMSS is holding its first Healthcare Hackathon in Nashville, Tennessee. Focused on solutions powered by Generative AI, TN HIMSS and its partner Slalom Consulting will bring creativity, collaboration and cutting-edge solutions together to address the most pressing challenges the healthcare industry faces, specifically targeting challenges facing provider organizations.

TN HIMSS’ Generative AI Hackathon format covers six weeks from October 3 to November 15 with four full weeks of solutions development. The Generative AI Hackathon will be divided into three divisions:

  • Enterprise Division: This division is open to teams from provider and payer organizations
  • Academic Division: This division is open to student-led teams from local universities
  • Open Division: This division is open to healthcare service organizations, consulting firms, and startups

The event kicks off with an opening session on October 3 that will provide a deep dive into AI insights with an industry-leading AI panel, team introductions and use case overviews that also include networking opportunities.

The Solution Development phase concludes November 3, followed by a judging & awards ceremony on November 15, 2023, with a judging panel of CIOs & CTOs of notable healthcare organizations. A panel of experts will be convened, followed by a social and networking event to celebrate. Division winners receive recognition and rewards, along with a grand prize for the premiere solution across all divisions.

“The power of artificial intelligence in healthcare has tremendous potential to improve patient care and reduce the administrative burden many healthcare organizations face,” said TN HIMSS Hackathon lead and President Elect Justin Mooneyhan of AMSURG. “This one-of-a-kind event brings together developers, designers, healthcare professionals and enthusiasts to form diverse teams and develop groundbreaking solutions to address these challenges. Whether you’re a seasoned coder, a healthcare expert, or simply someone eager to make a difference, this hackathon is your chance to contribute to real change in the healthcare provider landscape. I highly encourage you to form a team and register.”
