By Tommy Lewis, TN HIMSS Board Member, Past President and EVP and Chief Operating Officer of Tivity Health
On August 11, the TN HIMSS Board of Directors held its first official Board meeting of its fiscal year. It was a great opportunity for the new Board members to spend time with the incumbent Board members, to learn more about Chapter operations and begin to engage on committees and/or events that may be of interest.
The meeting was hosted by Rob Whitley at the beautiful new Vaco headquarters in Brentwood. What a wonderful facility. Rob, a leader with Pivot Point Consulting, a Vaco company, is a valuable TN HIMSS Board member. As we return to more in person meetings and events, we are hopeful that Vaco will welcome us back.
Prior to an open reception where many members, guests and sponsors were welcomed, the Board conducted a standard quarterly meeting as required by National HIMSS. Some of the topics covered included reviewing and approving the fiscal year budget; discussion on how to leverage National HIMSS to support our efforts; a complete review and recognition of our sponsors; and a run down on upcoming events. We are currently planning a few more of the popular CIO/CXO dinners. If you have ideas about great speakers or topics, please drop our Executive Director Tiffany Madigan a note with your suggestion at tiffany@tnhimss.org .
We are excited to get back to more in person activities this year and producing the great content and networking opportunities that you have historically enjoyed.
From a national perspective, the big HIMSS will be held in Chicago April 17-21 so mark your calendars. Remember that HIMSS is always later when the rotation comes through the Windy City.
Buckle up. It’s going to be a great year.
